Not Much New

Weekends go by way too quickly!

Yes, Celeste, I did have the red velvet pancakes and they are still so yummy.  I don't get all that frosting and whip cream on them though because I like the butter pecan syrup on them.  Even for me that would be way too much sweet overload.

I had hoped to finish my painting this weekend but I got as far as painting the house and roof and adding more patchy grass to the yard.  I still have to do the windows, tone down the roof (the black is too much; who knew?), put in siding lines (I like them better with than without), put in the white trim around windows and roof line, paint the stairs, do the same on the shed, and paint in the propane tank in the yard.  Sometimes I "look" like a painter though.  I have a blob of back paint on my upper right thigh and my right elbow that did not come off in the bath.  No clue how that happened.

Did practice the harp and work on my art course yesterday too.  Prepared the test for mailing in which was a house with 3 points of perspective (left vanishing point, right vanishing point, and trace vanishing point).  Haven't finished the book yet, but almost done with it.  Next one is "Basic Drawing."

Hobby Lobby had frames 50% off when I was there on Saturday.  Picked up one for my Christmas card that I painted.  Love the frame, though stark white might not have been the right choice.  Bah.  Who cares?

Thanks for the tip on duolingo.com, Nancy.  I'm going to give it a looksee soon.  But now?  Time to read blogs and get ready for work.  Hoping to have a few moments to do more reading in the Van Gogh biography before I have to leave for work.  Oh I do so wish I was rich.

Sounds like a fun weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing the painting soon, though! I wish I could take that lesson about the 3 point perspective. I need that badly. I noticed you said that you shop at Hobby Lobby, and I was glad to hear it... the other day at my little gallery I mentioned to somebody that I might teach a drawing class in one of the local stores like Michaels or HobbyLobby, and they immediately said that if it was at HobbyLobby they would NOT come, because of all that insurance stuff that the HobbyLobby owners did. I didn't realize that was such a hot issue, but I guess it is! Now I'm afraid to shop there or try to teach class there, because I don't want to be making a political statement one way or the other... Is that an issue in Chicago area? Or just in Cincinnati?

I saw the Van Gogh book yesterday at the Art Museum coffee shop--it is thick! I was very tempted to buy it. I'm glad your making progress on your painting...can't wait to see it. Those pancakes....sound ......delicious!

Sounds like you got a lot down - in reading about what you still have to do on the painting, it sounds like you are building a house from the ground up! ha ha I guess it does seem that way when it's slow going to get in windows, etc. Take your time, don't rush, a little at a time...

Dear Sherry - sounds like those pancakes are wonderful. Pecan syrup makes my mouth water. Can't wait to see your new painting. I know it will be wonderful when it is finished.

Happy Dance!!!

I lost track of you when the old blog went away. I haven't kept up with blogs in a long time; this evening stopped by Schnauzer Mom's to see what she'd been up to. I saw "Conservatively Bohemian" on her blog list and thought it sounded interesting. How surprised I was to see it was you! :)

It's such a joy to come across "old" friends. I'll be reading thru all your posts to catch up. Good to see you're still blogging!

Sometimes I think I must be the only person who's never had red velvet cake--now there are red velvet pancakes. We'll patiently wait for your painting. Have a good week.
